Telstra Licensed Store program becomes a success business model
Telstra Licensed Store program has become a successful business model for licensees and Telstra alike.
Since its launch in 1999, approximately 223 stores out of the 323 in the Telstra telecommunication franchises network, are owned and operated by Telstra licensees.
“Telstra’s Licensee program builds on Telstra’s great brand, our suite of products and our strong marketing skills. But the most crucial element is the calibre of people who run, and work in, our stores,” said Rebekah O’Flaherty, Telstra Country Wide’s Executive Director.
“Licensees, and the teams around them, are what make these individual businesses successful, and in turn help Telstra be successful. To continue that success, we are looking for more motivated people to join our Licensed Store Program and become Telstra licensees.”
Sue McLennan, an ex-Telstra employee, has become a Telstra store licensee taking over the Carlton store in Victoria.
McLennan’s previous position involved rolling out the Licensee program. She saw many licensee stores become successful, which had eventually inspired her to run the Telstra Carlton telecommunications franchise with her business partner, Paul Spooner.
“I hadn’t run my own business before, but I felt confident with the training and support that Telstra provides. Having worked at Telstra and with licensees, I had a good understanding of the program,” said McLennan.
“Telstra provided a great induction program and my advice to anyone interested is to spend as much time in stores working with licensees, store managers and their staff before you open your doors – all things that Telstra helps you with.
The same applied for Eddie Assemani, who was previously a General Manager in Telstra Retail and now the licensee of the Northcote Telstra store in Victoria. Assemani had always dreamt about running his own business. He found Telstra gave him the perfect training ground and support needed to fulfil his dream.
“If you want to do it, just go for it. Telstra is a great brand and there’s tons of support,” says Assemani.
“You become a true partner with Telstra. And you’ll be taking control of your career!”
Assemani also speaks around the country to tell Telstra staff about the great opportunities provided in becoming a Telstra licensee.
