Swimart Gladesville top pool tips for the swimming season

Swimart Gladvesville (previously known as Aquapoolco) shares some easy to follow tips to help make sure your pool stays in pristine condition, especially during the summer season.

“Just like a car needs regular servicing, so too does your swimming pool. And with Christmas holidays – a time of heavy pool usage – just around the corner, now’s the time to be making sure your pool is in tip top condition.” says Keri Sanders, Manager of Swimart Gladesville, who has more than 10 years of experience in the pool industry.

“Whilst it’s easy to look after your swimming pool if you have adequate tools, equipment and a basic knowledge of water chemistry, the biggest challenge pool owners face is that most consider clear water to equal clean water. And that’s not always the case,” said Sanders.

“Regular maintenance of your pool and its equipment will ensure it is always working at optimum level. This also allows you to correct or repair any parts that are failing before the whole unit requires replacement.”

Swimart Gladesville shares their top tips in maintaining your pool for summer:

• Operate the filtration system six to eight hours a day
• Regularly check sanitiser levels, ideally on a daily basis
• Check the pH every two days
• Check the Total Alkalinity (TA) weekly
• Check and clean the skimmer basket and hair and lint pot basket weekly
• Have your pool water checked at your local pool shop every two weeks
• Thoroughly backwash your sand or DE filter or remove and clean the cartridge from your cartridge filter, depending on pool use
• Maintain the water level at least half way up to the skimmer box opening
• Clean the pool and vacuum the walls and floor of the pool regularly

“When properly maintained, the pool water should be fresh, clear and sparkling,” says Sanders.
