Subway franchise still fresh in fast food
When Steve Gurwitz decided to expand his family business to include a fast food franchise, he didn’t want to take any risks. Hilltop Farms, his convenience store, had been in his family for generations.
“My grandfather opened our store in 1955 as a way to sell milk and eggs from our local farm to the public,” Steve said.
Steve understood that exceptional customer service is vital to any business’ success.
“We have constantly looked for ways to provide better service to our existing customer base while trying to find new and creative ways to expand that base,” Steve said.
After extensive research about several different fast food franchises, Steve decided to work with a well-known and trusted brand and opened a Subway franchise .
Steve chose a Subway franchise over other fast food franchises because of the inexpensive overheads and labour as well as the range of healthy eating options.
“I was attracted by Subway’s ease of operation, low start-up cost and wide variety of offerings, which include healthy, low-fat menu choices that no one else offered,” he said.
Steve bought a Subway franchise because Subway comes with more than four decades of knowledge and understanding in the world of fast food franchises. Subway is the world’s largest fast food franchise. It has grown to include 22,000 Subway franchises in 76 countries because it works. Subway provides ongoing training and support every step of the way.
Steve’s Subway restaurant has now been running for more than nine years. As Subway is a well-known and recognised fast food franchise, Steve’s decision to open a Subway franchise paid off and the results speak for themselves.
“We opened in January 1997, and I was floored by the results. The traffic count in our store increased by more than 1,000 customers per week. The Subway restaurant in and of itself has been a tremendous success but the effect it has had on my convenience store has been equally incredible. Virtually every category in the store has seen dramatic increases due to the added traffic generated by Subway,” he said.
Steve has never looked back on his decision to join the worldwide Subway family and setting up a Subway franchise.
“I look forward to more great years in the future partnered with this fantastic franchise, and I take my hat off to all the headquarters staff and family of franchisees who work so hard to keep the company moving in the right direction.”
