Struddys Sports franchise reveals Sunshine Coast expansion plan
Queensland’s sports merchandise retailer, the Struddys Sports franchise , is looking at expanding.
The move to the Sunshine Coast is part of a massive expansion plan that will see up to 25 new retail franchise stores in Queensland and NSW in the next 5 years.
Ross Strudwick, founder and CEO of the sports equipment franchise explained, “The Sunshine Coast is one of the first regions we are looking at. With strong growth and a growing number of sporting clubs the coast could support more than one store.”
Ross continued, “Our franchise strategy is working very well and increased growth will further improve our competitive edge.”
The Struddys Sports franchise is a well established Queensland sports retailer with 12 stores turning over in excess of 10 million a year. In addition, the retail franchise has experienced strong growth in their direct wholesale business, the company now supply over 500 schools and 1200 sporting clubs.
Sports equipment franchise targeting of schools and local clubs is reinforced with the company sponsoring many junior sports to the tune of $110,000 in 2005.
An ex Australian rugby league player, Ross Strudwick says, “We have been very successful in marketing to the local sports community. We are a grass roots business and our people love junior sport, it’s our core business.”
The Strudwick sports tradition looks set to continue with Ross’s son Nathan recently signing a contract with the Brisbane Broncos, and Nathan’s sister Kristen is a member of the Queensland Firebirds Netball team.
