Sherpa Group CEO to participate in St Vincent de Paul CEO Sleepout
Franchise consultants, Sherpa Group will participate in the St Vincent de Paul CEO Sleepout with the company’s CEO, Vicki Prout sleeping out to create awareness and raise funds for the homeless.
CEO’s will spend one night sleeping at the Adelaide Zoo with limited bedding and food to experience first-hand what it is like to be homeless.
Franchise consultant and Chief Sherpa, Prout said she is willing to brave the elements to raise awareness of homelessness within the franchising community as it affects the lives of so many people.
“Like the traditional Sherpa, who braves the elements, protects where they can, leads from the front, carries packs and guides, I am hoping my small part will enlighten and encourage others to donate and become aware of the difficulties faced by many within our society.
“By no means, do I think it will be easy - Scaling Mt Everest might be simpler!” Prout said.
The annual fundraising event began locally in Sydney in 2006 before going national and raising $2.9M in 2010.
“But by joining the cause to raise awareness of homelessness and necessary funds, we can contribute positively to the thousands of people around South Australia, and nationally, who experience disadvantage,” Prout said.
CEO’s will bed down on Thursday 16 June to raise funds to support new projects, crisis accommodation, domestic violence and also counselling, life and occupational skills, legal advice and education.
