Franchisee Michael Mifsud's positive approach is his secret to success with Lifetime Distributors

What made you turn to franchising?

The ability to increase my income in a mobile business that guaranteed I would make more money than I ever did as regular employee and the ability to control my own destiny and secure my family's financial future. Franchising with Lifetime allows me to run my own home based business and in the knowledge I am receiving the backing of a major company and that motivates me even more.

How do you benchmark your performance?

The founder of this business has an enthusiasm unlike any other person I have met, he set the standard for this business and if I can emulate 50 per cent of what he has achieved then I know I am doing it right. Our local master franchise regularly provides training sessions to keep us fresh and to think outside of the square. At the end of the day we have to realise that whatever it was that got us to where we are today may not be sufficient enough to keep us there. Lifetime is unique in its approach and we simply benchmark against past performances, and though training and performance evaluation we strive to exceed our personal and business goals.

How do you market your home based business?

We have very good contemporary livery on our vans that clearly spells out who we are and what we do and we have a website to complement our core business activities. Marketing is provided at a local level by the master franchise and at a national level by the franchisor. But what gives us the best marketing is to directly approach our target clients using cold calling which in our industry has a 70 per cent plus success rate. After that, and once the consumer can see the benefits of shopping with us, the customer actually provides marketing for us in the way of referral, by far the best way to market Lifetime.

What has been the secret to your success?

Trying to remain as positive as possible in all situations. Trying to invest as much as possible in myself and my personal growth. Biting off more than I can chew and chewing like crazy.
