Queensland Department of State Development helps businesses grow
Queensland Department of State Development is the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry works and helps regional economies grow and strengthen industries. The other services department delivers a range of services to achieve regional economic growth, transform and build up industries and to assist business owners improve their operational and management skills.
The business services department works closely with key regional economic development stakeholders, industries, businesses, research organisations and universities, and government bodies to achieve the best results for the State. Desley Carole Boyle was elected to State parliament as the first female Member for Cairns. She was sworn in as Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry in 2007. She was born in Newcastle, brought up in Wollongong, studied in the university in Sydney and then moved to Canberra.
Boyle knows well the importance of tourism to the economy of Queensland. In her words, Queensland is a place, where “there is something for everyone - from rainforests to the reef and tropical islands, from the adventure of the outback to wine and food tours, and from beautiful beaches to metropolitan arts and culture”.
