Pacnet expands telecommunications services with launch of Asia Pacific data landing station
A new Hong Kong-based data landing station (DLS) has been launched by Pacnet , solidifying the company’s commitment to providing high-speed telecommunications services to the business sector.
The DLS is the first carrier neutral data centre facility of its kind in the Asia Pacific region, and offers high-speed connectivity into Pacnet’s pan-Asian subsea cable network.
Pacnet CEO Bill Barney is confident the new expansion will offer customers an unprecedented level of telecommunications services.
“By leveraging the power, space and network connectivity of our cable landing facilities and turning them into data centres, we are delivering a unique breed of connected data centres that will meet the growing market demand for robust co-location facilities linked by the highest speed, lowest latency connections available,” he says.
The company’s full ownership of the DLSs and network infrastructure, Barney adds, allows Pacnet to provide customers with a single point of contact for their co-location and connectivity needs.
This partnership will also enable the company to expand as business demands grow, and will be at the heart of its new cloud computing strategies.
The Hong Kong DLS is located at Tseung Kwan O. By leveraging direct connections to the privately owned EAC-C2C subsea network, it will allow customers to utilise high capacity, low latency telecommunications services across Asia and the United States.
Featuring a high power density of up to 8 KVA per cabinet, the DLS meets the power requirements of today’s high density servers.
Multiple resiliency options have also been incorporated, including:
- fully redundant power and cooling systems
- advanced fire detection and suppression systems; and
- state-of-the-art security access systems.
