Pacnet cbtains NSP license in Malaysia
Telecommunications provider, Pacnet , is pleased to announce that it has obtained a Network Service Provider (NSP) license from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). This license will pave the way for businesses and carriers in Malaysia to access high bandwidth international network connectivity solutions backed by Pacnet’s extensive subsea cable network.
Bill Barney, Chief Executive Officer of the telecommunications provider said, “Malaysia is a key growth market for Pacnet and receiving the NSP license allows us to move into the next phase of our aggressive growth strategy here,” “This will also enable us to deliver additional international connectivity into Malaysia to support its vision of achieving a household broadband penetration rate of 50% by the end of 2010.”
According to figures from the MCMC, the household broadband penetration rate in Malaysia has been growing steadily from 10.9 percent in 2006 to 29.2 percent as of the end of the third quarter of 2009.
Datin Norhizan Ibrahim, Country Manager of the communications service provider in Malaysia said, “Enterprises in Malaysia have been demanding dedicated, high bandwidth international connectivity solutions to support their expansion into the region. With the NSP license, we can meet this growing demand by delivering our premium capacity services including our Global International Private Line (IPL) and Global Ethernet IPL (EIPL) services, to businesses and carriers here"

“These new services will provide a greater choice of international connectivity solutions, in addition to our existing range of solutions including IP Transit and our IP VPN service that is offered with five classes of service,” added Datin Norhizan.
In addition to internet access and connectivity solutions, Pacnet also offers a full suite of managed and hosted services to small and medium enterprises, multi-national corporations and carriers, within Malaysia.
