Optus communications franchise launch Optus Safe Smart, their first consumer cloud service
Optus communications franchise has launched their first consumer cloud service, Optus Smart Safe that enables customers to back up and store content from their mobile handset or PC and Laptop and access it easily online.
The digital cloud service is available free of charge to select Pre-Paid and Post-Paid consumer and SMB mobile customers who will have access to 500MB of cloud storage from the beginning of May. The service will become available to broadband customers in the coming months as part of the starter pack, with access to 500MB of cloud storage.
“Utilising the cloud to create innovative and compelling offerings for our customers is something we’ve been working towards for some time,” Austin R. Bryan, Director for Optus Digital Media said.
“We’re very happy to be bringing Optus Smart Safe to our customers, [which] is the first of many new exciting consumer offerings we’ll be launching in the digital space in the coming months.”
Additional storage options include adding a 10GB Optus Smart Safe at $5.99 per month or 300GB Smart Safe at $14.99 per month. Optus Smart Safe allows data to be stored and protected in a single storage product across supported mobile handsets and PC based platforms.
Bryan said, “The smartphone is fast becoming the go-to device for customers in terms of accessing, capturing and playing back media and storing important information.
“This product enables our customers to safely back up that content, access it on their PC, and share it online.”
Select Optus communications franchise smartphone customers who choose to sign up for the service need to download the Optus Smart Safe mobile client which allows the backup of data from their handset.
Installing the PC Client creates a converged storage space accessible anywhere with and internet connection, and provides automated PC back up functionality from the user’s desktop or laptop.
The MyZoo Web Portal manages the user’s service, and downloads and allows files to be viewed online, either by the user or friends and contacts they choose to share with.
Another feature of the Smart Safe offering, Time Saving automated back up automatically backs up vital data and information whenever a change is made. In the case of hardware failure or the loss of a device, new information is still backed up and stored.
Partner company, F-Secure has developed the product. For further information on the consumer cloud service, please contact Optus communications franchise.
