New Zealand Natural - the global ice cream franchise network

New Zealand Natural  Premium Ice Cream is a global franchise network based in Auckland. It operates as an international franchisor of ice cream, frozen yoghurt, smoothie and juice parlours and mini parlours.

Even though it was under Australian ownership for about 20 years, the ice cream has always been made in NZ. "Our ice cream has always been proudly made in New Zealand, using the freshest and purest cream and ingredients." explains Shane Lamont, New Zealand Natural's Managing Director. "It used to be produced in Christchurch, but now it's made at Emerald's factory in East Tamaki."

Becoming an NZN franchisee doesn't necessarily require experience of running a business or of working in hospitality.

Australasian Regional Manager, David Foreman explains, "A lot of it comes down to personality. We're very much a people business. There are certain financial criteria that need to be met, but basically the franchisees we take on have to fit the mould of what we see NZN becoming going forward. We're a fun business and the people aspect is a crucial part of that."

The company is focused on supporting its franchisees. As such, a key part of any franchise business is the marketing activity that supports its day-to-day operations.

There is also a comprehensive programme of regular national promotions, supported by local activity targeting specific geographical areas and individual stores.
