Remember the old fashioned finishing schools where girls learnt to walk with books on their head? Well Metro Modelling Academy is the modern day version. They run classes for children and teenagers and even adults. “Our courses don’t just teach modeling but rather use it as a tool to improve posture, eye contact, smile and overall confidence, all the things you need to form a good impression,” explains Company Principal Adam Barralet. Courses at the education and training franchise teach life skills including communication skills, skin-care & make-up, manners and etiquette, wardrobing, public speaking, job interview techniques and much more all in a fun, interactive environment.

With so many youth issues revolving around low self esteem Metro Modelling Academies plays make a significant contribution to the community. “My girls have been doing modelling at Metro for 2 years. On the time my girls have spent at Metro their confidence has gone from non existent to being able to get up in front of people and talk confidently. They now also take time to consider their appearance when going out somewhere. The girls look forward to going to modelling each week. They have a lot of fun in class and have made many new friends” says Karen McCrae whose two daughters are Metro students.

Adam began as a student 10 years ago, and was then evolved to instructing for the schools. In 2003 Adam approached his mother for advise in purchasing a Metro childrens education franchise. Seeing to opportunity Gill became Adam’s business partner, and in 2005 they took over the role of Franchisor. The last couple of years have been spent working alongside a great team to perfect their re-branding and finely tuning every aspect of their operations.

Metro Modelling Academy have been successfully franchising in Western Australia for many years and currently have 14 locations throughout the state, running courses on site and in Secondary Schools. With the recent sale of the Victorian Master Franchise, 2008 will see the opening of studios through Melbourne. They now have their sites on Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide as well as other countries. “I love what I do and I know that Metro is of value to people all over the world”, says Adam.
