Mad Mex sells their 1 millionth burrito this March 2012
After selling over 2 million Mexican meals at the end of 2011, Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill has sold their 1 millionth burrito this March 2012.
Also making 12th place on the BRW 2012 Fast Franchises list, Mad Mex has set itself to be one of Australia’s fastest growing Mexican fast food franchises and is positioning themselves to become the dominant player in its category.
Since opening their first store in Darlinghurst 2007, Mad Mex has successfully grown with up to 15 locations nationally at the end of 2011. At the start of 2012, the Mexican cuisine franchise had opened three new stores in Sydney’s Cronulla and Newtown and in WA’s Subaico.
Each store location chosen has been targeted for its demographic, foot traffic, convenience and on the back of customer demand. The key factors in selecting the right location involves finding areas that offer an established lunch and dinner trade – seven days a week, attracts the key demographic of 20-40 years old and is in an area popularised by the youth.
Mad Mex seeks out the best specific properties in the precinct to open a store and has been prepared to even wait up to 2 years for the right space. Founder, Clovis Young, intends to continue with this property selection strategy and hopes to increase the number of stores to 30 by this year.
“A large part of the reason I started Mad Mex four years ago was the absence of authentic, fresh and healthy Mexican food in Australia at the time. It is great to see how positive the business has been received by customers who enjoy our delicious and healthy cuisine,” said Young.
“Due to customer demand, we are expanding at a rapid rate in order to deliver authentic Mexican cuisine to as many Australians as possible.”
Mad Mex Cronulla store will open on 12th March 2012, while Newtown’s Mexican franchise opens on the 27th March 2012.
WA’s Subiaco Mexican fast food franchise is also scheduled to open in the same month on 26th March 2012.
