How old is the company and when did you start franchising?
Jim's Pool Care started in 2003 and it's parent company, the Jim's Group started in 1984.
How many franchises do you have?
54 in New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.
How are you going to grow the business in 2008?
We have a team of local master franchisors who look after franchisees. It is the master franchisor's role to work with franchisees to help grow their businesses.
Where do you expect the business to be in 2010?
By 2010 we expect to have well over 100 franchisees building great businesses and having the lifestyle they got into business for.
What do you expect from a franchisee?
In both our mobile and retail environments we are looking for people with a go-getter attitude who are not afraid to step outside their comfort zone, personable people who can relate to others well and people who are prepared to follow our proven systems to grow their business (there's no point in reinventing the wheel!).
What are the start-up costs for a franchisee and what working capital should they have?
Mobile franchisees need to allow around $35,000 plus a van and depending on their personal circumstances around $5000 in working capital. Retail franchisees need to allow around $100,000 and depending on their personal circumstances around $10,000 in working capital.
What is the length of agreement?
10 years with no renewal fee.
What sort of hours will the franchisee have to work to get the business established and how long should that take?
We recognize that everyone comes into Jim's Pool Care with different goals and expectations so depending on what people want to get out of the business will determine the number of hours and days a week people will work.
What profit can a franchisee reasonably expect to make after two years?
Because there are many different reasons why people join Jim's Pool Care it is difficult to provide an average. It is best for someone looking at Jim's Pool Care to decide how many hours and days a week they want to work and then we can put them in touch with franchisees with similar goals to talk.
