Has the downturn In the housing market impacted business? Why/Why not?
The downturn in the housing market which is onlyapparent in some states, hasn't had an impact on Jim's Pool Care overall or it's growth nor the number of new clients ringing up to get their pools and spas serviced. As more and more families have both adults working we are seeing more money rich and time poor people resulting in an increased demand in the service market. It's also important to note that people have their pools and spas professionally maintained for a number of reasons including peace of mind knowing it's safe and the desire to not store chemicals at home.
What is the start-up cost and on-going fee structure to becoming one of your franchisees?
Jim's Pool Care has both mobile and retail franchises available with entry fees deliberately kept low as we realise it's not the person with the biggest wallet who grows the best business. To start a Jim's Pool Care mobile franchise people need to allow at least $35,000 which covers the franchise fee and startup stock and equipment, training, marketing and everything else they need to start trading. The only other thing to consider is a white modern looking van which needs to be purchased or leased.
Around $100,000 is required to open a Jim's Pool Care retail franchise.
What are the top three attributes you are seeking in a prospective franchisee?
In both our mobile and retail environments we are looking for people with a go getter attitude who are not afraid to step out of their comfort zone, personable people who can relate to others well and people who are prepared to follow our proven systems to grow their businesses.
We have a great group of franchisees" says National Franchisor Peter Velzen. "This goes back to selecting people with the right attitude and attributes."

What is the average revenue/profit your franchisees are currently earning per annum?
"Mobile pool servicing is somewhat of a lifestyle business,' says Peter. "Because of that we have people who only want to work a certain number of days a week enabling them to play golf or go surfing midweek or even just to finish early enough to pick up their kids up from school - because of this, earnings vary depending on why a person bought a Jim's Pool Care franchise.
"We certainly have people who want to build up a profitable business in as quick a time as they can, and those following our system are doing this. In fact only last week I had one of our newer franchisees tell me: 'I joined looking for a change in job and lifestyle. I wanted my own business and to make some money. I got everything I hoped for, and more. I have had continued profitable and enjoyable work with excellent backup and guidance"
