Jamaica Blue sets foot in Singapore
The FoodCo Group is planning to expand Jamaica Blue cafe franchises in Singapore and eventually expand to China and the United Arab Emirates.
FoodCo has signed a regional license agreement with Universal F&B to open Jamaica Blue cafes in Singapore with the first launch happening in July 2012.
“We will be introducing Singapore to our authentic single origin Wallenford Estate Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee – the world’s most exclusive coffee,” said FoodCo Group Managing Director, Serge Infanti.
“Further, we will be offering our Jamaica Blue Signature blend – which was recently recognised as the Number One milk coffee blend in Australia.”
FoodCo Group’s Chinese partners, Ware and Kare, had opened their first Jamaica Blue cafe franchise in Shanghai 2005. The network has now grown to 15 cafe outlets.
“Jamaica Blue’s coffee and food offering has been very well accepted by the Chinese, and we are expecting to see the Jamaica Blue China network grow by 25 sites per annum,” said Infanti. "Furthermore, we’re pleased to report that the additional cafés will result in additional opportunities for employment in China and in Australia.”
FoodCo Group had also opened the first Jamaica Blue cafe in the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi in February 2012. The local region partner had recently agreed to help accelerate the cafe brand’s growth and aims to have 25 outlets opened by 2017.
“We have been successfully operating in the international market since 1994 and we have always had a well considered, conservative and focused approach to our international expansion,” said Infanti.
Other than Jamaica Blue, the FoodCo Group has been working hard in expanding their other food franchise brand, Muffin Break, into the Indian market.
"I am convinced this measured and careful approach has ensured that both our Muffin Break and Jamaica Blue brands enjoy an excellent reputation based on credibility and proven success. I am proud we’ve built a strong foundation for further international expansion and growth in markets we deem appropriate. This is undoubtedly an exciting period for Foodco and for our worldwide partners,” said Infanti.
Jamaica Blue currently has 71 cafe franchises in Australia, 5 in New Zealand, 15 in China and 3 in the United Arab Emirates.
