Happiness is living mindfully
Relaxation, when practised and use appropriately, is a simple but important part of anyone’s efforts to boost their health, wellbeing and happiness.
The Happiness Institute has recently been part of the new TV project show, Excess Baggage, in which the life coaching franchise ran a session for the contestants on mindfulness.
The Happiness Institute explains the art of mindfulness. Mindfulness can be defined in many ways, but the simplest definition is the non-judgemental observation, or phenomena, such as thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions.
It is the idea that if we can learn to watch what we do, without judgement, we are able to better manage ourselves and not allow them to detract from our happiness.
An example is mindful eating, which is a practice that involves being more “present” during the eating process. When you are more mindfully engaged in the eating process, you would enjoy the food more, which will cause you to eat less and slower.
Mindfulness can be applied to more than just eating. It can be applied to anything and everything that happens in your daily life including what you are thinking and doing.
The Happiness Institute wants to ensure you are “watching” yourself, without judgement or assessment, but simply objectively observing.
