Gloria Jean’s Coffee Develops Continuity of Trade Strategy
Due to the closing of Borders Australia, Gloria Jean’s Coffees has developed a Continuity Trade Strategy with Damon Smith of Rockabee Consulting.
Earlier this year, the administrators for Borders Australia, has announced the closing of the book store franchises. 14 of these Borders stores contain a Gloria Jean’s Coffees franchise.
Smith is joining the coffee franchises’ development team in a four month contract to help relocate coffee franchisees and bring them back to business as quickly as possible.
“The Continuity of Trade Strategy is a Gloria Jean's Coffees support office plan that includes the creation of a dedicated working group within the business to source new sites for those affected franchisee partners," says Troy McDonagh, General Manager Australia, Gloria Jean's Coffees.
"This dedicated group is concentrating on negotiating leasing deals for replacement sites, managing ongoing communications with franchise partners, banks and landlords as well as the de-fit of the Borders locations and building of relocation sites."
Smith has been able to successfully help the development team relocate one franchisee and had managed to allow one of the affected coffee franchises to remain in the same street front location, despite the closure of Borders.
"This has been and continues to be a difficult time for franchise partners whose coffee houses were trading well prior to the voluntary administration announcement by RedGroup Retail. We continue to work to support them through this unfortunate situation,” says McDonagh.
“We are completely focused on sourcing new sites to allow them to continue trading as soon as possible."
