Profiles International provides business performance coaching services to a wide range of businesses. Here, the company suggests a way in which employers can motivate employees to be top performers through its Profiles Performance Indicator.

Managing employees has been compared to a game of checkers, where there is not a lot of strategy and you just have to move your employees forward. Profiles International believes that the effective management of employees is more like a game of chess.

With each employee possessing his or her own set of unique moves, it is the role of a good manager to know these moves and to use them strategically for the benefit of the business.

The Profiles Performance Indicator (PPI) is a means of business performance coaching that measures key behavioural factors and their impact on business success. This provides managers with information that makes every employee more valuable and productive.

Helping managers to recognise how an individual can be understood, the PPI is used to evaluate the differences between employees and how to use this knowledge to increase productivity.

The PPI measures behavioural tendencies in five critical job related competencies, which are:

  • productivity
  • quality of work
  • initiative
  • teamwork; and
  • problem solving.
The PPI provides business performance coaching advice for both management and the employee involved.

The management report contains recommendations for:

  • improving employee performance
  • how to stimulate employee motivation; and
  • whether the employee is internally motivated or will need external stimulation.
The employee receives a self-improvement guide as part of the report.

Core to the Profiles International approach to business performance coaching is the notion that team development is critical for the success of an organisation.

Promoting cooperation and collaboration between team leaders and team members can be challenging, and building an effective team requires more than just bringing a group of people together.

The more a manager knows about the strengths and weaknesses inherent in a team, the better they can balance the team and focus management efforts for positive results.

A Profiles Team Analysis assessment can provide business advice to managers and team leaders that lays out a blueprint for effective team development.

Regardless of the application, the Profiles Team Analysis details the characteristics of team members in comparison to that of the team leader.

This gives the team leader insight into what role he or she must play on the team to achieve team objectives, and to maximise the performance of each member.
