Gee - What a whiz
David Gee began working with bathroom renovation franchise company Bathroom Werx as a technician before starting an apprenticeship in 2000.
Today, David Gee has not only whizzed through his apprenticeship, he has gone one further and actually bought his employer out. David now owns a Bathroom Werx home services franchise and is ready to take on his own apprentice.
David has always loved being around people and owning his own Bathroom Werx Franchise has given him the perfect opportunity. He has variety of work, works at a different place each day as each job is different and he loves the travel. He finds the work rewarding and loves the wow factor when he has completed his jobs.
People appreciate the work immediately, and this is what makes having a bathroom renovation franchise so satisfying to experience.
Originally from Griffith, David went to Shepparton for a weekend, met the love of his love and stayed. Today David and his partner Julieanne have three lovely children and love the bathroom renovation business and the lifestyle it affords them.
After speaking with David here’s what he had to say:
1. What attracted you to a Bathroom Werx Franchise?
Well because I worked with the previous owners for so long I knew it was a really good business and the money was there to be made. So I had no hesitation in buying the franchise when it came up for sale. And knew this from hands on experience. Plus I love the work.
2. How have you found the challenge of fixing bathrooms compared to what you used to do?
I actually love the work. I’m a hands’ on type of person so I don’t find it too challenging. In fact with this work it’s actually rewarding and you see the appreciation from people immediately when you finish.
3. What are the good things about being a partner in a Bathroom Werx Franchise System?
An important thing is the freedom and flexibility particularly with a young family. This is a great support when you own your own business. Also I don’t have to answer phone or manage my diary for work, it’s all done for me but with me. This I love. Knowing your work in advance enables you to plan ahead and actually have a lifestyle. The money is of course a great motivator.
4. What are the negatives?
For me I don’t see any negatives. I’ve worked with the company long enough to know the system works and it works well.
5. What made you decide to take on an apprentice?
Well because I started as a technician who then took on the apprenticeship I’ve got hands on experience in how it feels to grow. This is something I would like to offer to young people in my area, particularly, to support my own community. And really it’s the only way you’re going to grow.
6. How are you finding managing an employee?
I haven’t started yet but I think it will be great to have someone working alongside you. I’ll let you know about that one soon.
7. What are your plans for the future?
I plan to raise the benchmark each year and continue to grow. I love what I do and I love being around people, so that hopefully won’t be hard to do.
