Educational and training fee structure of the ICHM business
The ICHM business insists probable students, who have finished their high school without English as a language, for a proof in English proficiency. The education and training business requires its students to possess an IELTS level of 6.0 Academic, with a minimum band of 5.5. The business training service provider notes that IELTS 6.0 is the suitable level for a student to handle the 1st year programme, which consists of tuition for more than 35 hours a week.
ICHM insists on proficiency in English, as students need to attend industry placement or ’Stage’ from the sixth month of their educational career. Fluency in English will be needed to converse with customers, supervisors and co-workers in the workplace.
Students at ICHM will study a second language of their preference to get the Swiss Hotel Association Diploma. However, ICHM does not teach a second language, but guides the students to study centres according to the choice of their second language.
ICHM sets no age limit to students. Scholarships are normally offered to applicants from Australia and New Zealand. In 2006, an Australian student was required to pay A$24,230 for a year including GST to carry on his education. However, the cost for an international student was A$24,980 per year including GST. There is an additional ‘New Student Application and Administration Fee’ of A$2000.
