Eagle Boys Pizza sales surge with introduction of new menu

by EAGLE BOYS

Australia’s second largest pizza maker, Eagle Boys Pizza , has recorded a surge in sales of up to 44% in key markets, following the recent launch of its new menu.

Nationally, Eagle Boys Pizza recorded double-digit sales growth across all its pizza franchise outlets.

The popularity of Eagle Boys Pizza's desserts range exceeded expectations by doubling, and comparable store average transaction value has climbed by up to 15.3%.

The results come as industry speculation mounts that Domino’s Pizza will follow suit and launch its own new menu shortly.

In late March, Eagle Boys Pizza unwrapped 31 new menu items, including a 92.7% fat free Lighter Choices range with five gourmet pizzas, five premium pizzas, five kids meals, five new side dishes, three new desserts, a gluten-friendly pizza base, and new drinks range.

Eagle Boys Pizza CEO, Todd Clayton, said the Australian pizza industry was one of the most competitive in the world, which was why innovation remained a key success factor.

“As a nation, we have taken different tastes, ingredients and dishes from across the world, interpreted them and now enjoy them in our daily lives," he said.

“Australians not only expect a greater range of pizza toppings, but also have higher expectations about the fresh ingredients and flavours used on pizzas. And while they want a premium pizza, Australians baulk at the hefty gourmet pizza price tag - they still want to feed the family for under $20.

“The recent launch of 31 new items was the biggest menu revamp in our company’s history aimed at delivering what Australians want," said Clayton.

The Eagle Boys Pizza menu has doubled in size in the last two years, and the pizza franchise group is seeing a big trend in people swaying from traditional to premium pizzas. In return, this has boosted their sales and their position in the market.

“That’s why we expect to see competitors following suit in the coming months as they look to catch up. In particular, we are expecting our competitors to focus on new pizza ingredients, desserts, and pastas in their efforts to equalise the playing field following the Eagle Boys new menu launch,” concludes Clayton.

The Eagle Boys pizza franchise group is one of Australia’s largest pizza makers and is totally Australian-owned. Operating over 303 franchised stores throughout mainland Australia, Eagle Boys pizza franchises collectively employ over 4,000 staff and make over 17 million pizzas a year.
