Dogtech dog training franchise offers Katrina Boyd a new lease on life

Katrina Boyd used her savings from the job she wanted to leave in banking and finance to set up her dog training franchise with Dogtech - Australia, and start living the life she always wanted.

Katrina is now a behavioural training therapist and the area specialist for NSW Northern Beaches. The dog training franchise has provided all the training and support she needs to realise her career aspirations.

“Now I love going to work,” she said.

“My job is varied and interesting – I am called on to help clients solve all kinds of doggy problems and I feel fulfilled that I am able to help both people and dogs.

“I am not stuck in an office, I am out meeting with vets, pet shop owners, and rescue groups each week.”

Ongoing support and training are supplied to all franchisees of Dogtech's dog training franchises.

“My area franchisee is my corporate mentor – he supports my on-going training literally every day by phone or in person when necessary,” Katrina said.

Dogtech also hold regular regional training workshops, an annual conference, and publish the Champions Newsletter to keep franchise operators up to date on what is working for others within the Dogtech network.

The ‘Mastermind Alliance’ is incorporated into their franchise system which is a program that promotes harmony between all members of the dog training franchise, including their clients - both dogs and dog owners.

Katrina believes she is lucky she took the time to investigate the franchise system, especially the people involved as that is who she relies on.

“I’ve been lucky to find a franchise where the owners and management are extremely helpful and flexible” she said.

Franchising with the dog training franchise gives Katrina a wealth of possibilities for the future of her business. She may expand her specialities, become a regional franchisee for Dogtech or join Dogtech management to assist in training new franchisees.

“I love the freedom of running my own business and the way I can increase my income by working smarter.

“I also like the idea that I am building equity in a business I can sell someday – I feel I am more in control of my own destiny.”
