Brisbane NightOwl Convenience Store franchisees reach 20 year milestone
Ian and Lisa McLauchlan have been formally recognised by NightOwl CEO Andrew Morgan at the 2010 NightOwl Awards for Excellence.
Ian and Lisa McLauchlan went from a young couple working for NightOwl Convenience Store franchise to owing and operating five NightOwl stores in central Brisbane and recently reaching a 20 year milestone with the company.
Ian grew up on a cattle farm in Maryborough before accepting a job with NightOwl’s first convenience store in Auchenflower and meeting Lisa while they both worked for NightOwl.
They now operate the convenience store franchises in New Farm, Fortitude Valley, Wickham Street, West End and Highgate Hill.
Remembering the days of early beginnings with NightOwl, Ian said he moved from Maryborough to Brisbane with dreams of running his own business.
“I could have gone to university but I wanted to start working and earning money straight away. I was offered a job in the Public Service but turned it down as I was offered a job as Store Manager of NightOwl Auchenflower. I haven’t looked back since,” he said.
A meeting of chance while Ian was working as a floating manager saw him managing Lisa’s Buranda store.
“Lisa was working at the store part time while studying accounting at uni. We became friends at first, and the rest is history,” Ian said.
Ian says they have managed to stay with the convenience store franchise for so long by setting goals and working hard to achieve them.
