Asia-Pacific Centre for Franchising Excellence reports success with free online franchise education program
Having launched in only July last year, the free online pre-entry franchise education program developed by Griffith University’s Asia-Pacific Centre for Franchising Excellence has already attracted over one thousand registrants, and has been adopted by several franchisors as part of their recruitment procedures.
Funded by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the program is aimed at creating better informed franchisees, and reducing conflict.
Director Professor Lorelle Frazer explains that the program was developed “following franchise conflict research findings, which highlighted a need for franchisees to do more research or ‘due diligence’ before signing a franchise agreement.”
The research, she says, found that many franchisees were entering the franchising sector with unrealistic expectations that could later cause conflict in relationships with franchisors.
“Prospective franchisees are also anecdotally notorious for not investing in in-depth research and advice before entering franchising so we sought funding from the ACCC to offer the program for free,” Professor Frazer adds.
Combining video, audio and text, the free online franchise education program consists of five modules that can each be completed in around forty minutes.
Each module is accompanied by an assessment quiz that tests participants’ understanding of the content, with recipients receiving a certificate of completion once they work through all five.
In addition to attracting over one thousand participants, the franchise training program has also been adopted by a number of franchisors, who have incorporated it into their franchise recruitment processes.
