Profiling our People

Trevor and Sharyn Cripps
Franchisor Managers Queensland

Trevor and his wife Sharyn are two of our newest Regional Franchisors. Trevor has a few words to share with other Jim’s Test & Taggers.

Don’t get hung up on the Territory

Most new and prospective franchisees get too concerned about ‘the territory’. Mine has a lot of vacant land in it!

I learnt from the start that there is more out there than just your territory. Go and get what you want because you can. Besides, customers that approach you invariably come from ‘out of territory’.

We should be thinking about how more and more vans on the road will impact our target market’s perception of us (Look! There goes another Jim’s Test & Tag van!). I put the Jim’s Test & Tag logo on the spare wheel cover of my other vehicle. When I take a trip through to Brisbane, it probably helps other franchisees more than me, but ultimately it helps us all.

Think about how you can network with other divisions, they all have a client base that is already happy with the ‘Jims’ service.

A number of franchisees in these other Divisions also need OUR service.

Trevor Richards
Franchisee ACT & South East NSW

My name is Trevor Richards and I get great satisfaction from doing what I do. My territory is in South East NSW ranging from the snow fields to the ocean and everything in between. The majority of the time I am called Jim but occasionally I am called Trevor from Bombala where my wife and I moved to for a semi-retirement sea change.

I don’t mind being called Jim as I am proud to wear our uniform. We backup our product and service with actions and not rhetoric. When you have a service that allows you to act in the best interests of your client, and you remove a lot of stress and fear of the unknown for your client, your job satisfaction level is very high.

There would be few positions in any industry whereby you control your work level, your job satisfaction level, your income level and have at your command a support and training assistance package that has been designed to benefit yourself. Okay I might be a little biased towards Jim’s Test & Tag, but after two years as a franchisee I have experienced the development of Test & Tag and we are on a long term affiliation. The beauty of what we do is we are always meeting someone new.

Good health and cheers,
Trevor Richards
