Muffin Break’s sweet deal: new franchisees’ $40K incentive

Sarah Stowe

Are you ready for the sweet taste of success as a bakery cafe owner? What could be better than sharing your love of delicious baked goods and great coffee with your local community, while building a great business for yourself?

Muffin Break has a long tradition of serving up sweet treats; and now there’s an extra sweet deal for incoming franchise owners.

Muffin Break reveals $40K incentive

In a limited time offer, new franchisees who sign up to purchase a brand new Muffin Break location before 30 June 2024 will benefit from a $40,000 boost to their business.

This brilliant offer means Muffin Break will waive the royalty fees to the value of the first $40,000. This financial assistance allows brand new franchisees to set up in business and get established before starting royalty payments to the franchisor.

Greg Tiddy, who heads up leasing and franchise recruitment at Muffin Break’s parent company, Foodco, says this deal reflects the franchisor’s understanding of the challenges of the early stages of a franchisee’s business.

“When everything is new there are lots of upfront costs, including training. This is a time when franchisees are finding their way. The $40,000 offer is our way to assist franchisees at this point in their journey with Muffin Break,” he says.

New franchisees can choose from different business models to suit their needs and the neighbourhood. Muffin Break franchisees can operate from a site as large as a 180sqm inline store, a 30sqm stand-alone kiosk with 40sqm seating or a 12 sqm coffee cart.

And the daunting task of finding just the right site, at just the right price, is removed from new franchisees. The Muffin Break team brings its expert knowledge and experience to finding strong site locations, and then handles all the negotiations.

“We rely on strong traffic flow, and like to be close to supermarkets, fresh food and food courts in shopping centres,” explains Greg.

Locations and regional growth

Other popular locations are busy transit hubs, where a quick purchase is top of the customers’ wish list.

Muffin Break has achieved high volumes at its Adelaide Airport store and is always on the lookout for potential sites in busy traffic zones, from airports to railway stations and a new target market, motorway service stations.

“We plan strong growth in our transit hub stores over the next five years,” says Greg.

The popular muffin chain has generations of loyal customers, increasingly outside metro areas.

“We’re very strong in regional areas. When we open a store, there’s a real buzz that Muffin Break is coming to town. Our latest store in Lismore had a phenomenal first week. The community really responded well to our brand and our delicious muffins,” says Greg.

Muffin Break is always undertaking product development, looking for and embracing food trends and flavours.

Muffin Break serves up innovation on the menu

The 35-year-old business has developed its niche product into a mega menu of innovation and variety. From the duffin (a doughnut muffin combo) and lamington muffin, to a chorizo pumpkin muffin and a range of gluten-free muffins; there is a whole host of delightful sweet and savoury flavours.

Muffin Break has innovated and delivered novelty items to keep the customer experience always fresh and exciting. It themes muffins around seasonal events such as Australia Day, Hallowe’en and Christmas. It offers a regular menu of breakfast, lunch and snacks, hot and cold beverages, and typical cafe classic sweet treats.

The diversity of its menu means Muffin Break can cater for everyone, from retirees wanting a quite catch up with friends to young professionals seeking a quick breakfast or a sweet treat.

Muffin Break’s $40k incentive is for a limited time

It’s no surprise that with its loyal customer base Muffin Break is a regular winner of external awards. Just last year Muffin Break was named the Roy Morgan Coffee Shop of the Year in its Customer Satisfaction Awards.

“The top skill franchisees require is customer service,” reveals Greg. “A great experience is the main reason our customers come back to Muffin Break time and again,” he says.

It’s the magic combination of a great cafe experience, a diverse and delicious menu, full franchise support, and premium training. And now, with a limited-time financial boost of $40,000 for brand new franchisees (T&Cs apply), there’s even more incentive to find out what you could achieve as a Muffin Break franchisee.
