Firstly the UK launched in July 2005, they were the first independent 'online directory’. Lots of people subsequently copied us and jumped on the bandwagon (which was flattering!) but what we recognised very quickly was that the 'online directory' business is a finite proposition. Taking money for online advertising is, we believe, a very short-term business that will be difficult, if not impossible, to sustain. There is already evidence to support this thinking with the demise of several players over the last 18 months.

The way the web is moving will make it very hard for anyone (other than possibly Google) to make a living as an online directory.

What we have built is very different and has now landed on AUSTRALIAN shores. We are not a website business - we're a business with a website.

Our franchisees are at the hub of their local business community. They are Word-of-Mouth Specialists, who spread the word about the best businesses in their area. They are very selective about who they work with – we only want the best businesses - and what they do for their clients can involve as many as 32 different marketing elements.
