The Market

According to the International Energy Agency, new solar installations in Australia increased 80% from 2007 to 2008. This was backed by almost AUD $120 million of government spending. More recently, the number of applications for government rebates grew from 420 per week in May 2008 to approximately 6,043 per week in May 2009. Under the previous government homes initiative, over 50,000 systems had been installed as at the end of September 2009, expecting to rise to 120,000 in total. In 2008, it was estimated that solar energy was used in only 8% of Australian homes. Further, the majority of this solar use was for solar hot water. ZEN Home Energy Systems believe that there are a significant number of opportunities in every market that could be targeted by franchisees.
