Worldwide Online Printing to Plant 10,000 Trees
The first 500 will be planted by Worldwide franchise support staff on Tree Day itself (Sunday July 27) – and then one new tree will be added to the Worldwide Forest whenever a customer of any of the group’s 88 franchised Centres places a print order on Worldwide Green paper.
CEO Mark Manderson said: “National Tree Day makes a huge contribution to reminding us how important it is to think about the environment, and this year we’re delighted to throw our weight behind the project by encouraging our 15,000 business customers to think Green.”
Called ‘Switch to Worldwide Green and Plant a Tree’, the crusade is promoted by in-store posters and promotional badges – and by education packs which spell out the importance of printing on recycled paper made from 100% post-consumer waste. Worldwide is also encouraging franchisees to present any customer who ‘goes Green’ with a certificate and stickers.
Many Worldwide franchisees are busy organising their own local Tree Day activities and community sponsorships.
In Queensland, Worldwide Fortitude Valley Manager Michelle Bowen said, “When we heard Worldwide was supporting our Green range with tree planting and getting behind National Tree Day initiatives, we were thrilled and immediately signed up to help plant trees with the Moggill Creek Catchment group at Huntington Park in Brookfield. Our shovels are ready!”
The team at Worldwide Eagle Street, including owner Simon Hall, are also going to get their hands dirty on Tree Day at Huntington Park. “We think it’s a great way to give back to the environment,” Simon said. “Our team is really pleased to be a part of this initiative.” Simon is even planning on bringing his family along to help out and learn about conservation.
Worldwide Green is one of the few papers made entirely from post-consumer waste. It’s therefore much better for the environment than paper made from pre-consumer waste because the material has already been used as a consumer item, like a milk carton or box, before being recycled and reconstituted into paper.
According to Worldwide, one tonne of their recycled paper or cardboard saves, 17 trees, 1,700 litres of oil, 4000 kilowatts of electricity, 4 cubic metres of landfill space and 31,780 litres of water.
