Workout World , Australia’s largest fitness equipment retail franchise, has joined forces with The Heart Foundation to help raise awareness about women and heart disease.

This partnership has inspired a very special August promotion at Workout World stores nationally, called Go Red For Women at Workout World sports equipment franchise. With the purchase of selected fitness equipment* during August from Workout World’s 35 stores nationally, up to $50 from each purchase will go towards the Heart Foundation in a bid to raise awareness about women and heart disease.

According to Workout World sports and fitness franchise marketing manager Mark Garrahy, Workout World’s support of the Heart Foundation will help fund research and build awareness among women about how to reduce their risk of heart disease.

“Anyone who purchases selected products at Workout World during August will be helping The Heart Foundation with its quest to raise vital funds for its research and educational programs.”

The promotion will be supported in-store with point of sale materials including posters and flyers.

According to the Heart Foundation, heart disease is the number one killer of Australian women. In fact, it kills four times as many women as breast cancer. Every hour one Australian woman will die from heart disease. The good news is heart disease is largely preventable, and with these steps women can help lower their risk.

Five ways to love your heart
  1. Regular heart check-ups: see your doctor or GP for ongoing heart disease risk assessments.
  2. Get to know your numbers: find out your cholesterol level, blood pressure and waist circumference and check these regularly.
  3. Go smoke-free: Kicking the habit is the single most important thing you can do to reduce your risk of coronary heart disease.
  4. Enjoy healthy eating: Enjoy a variety of foods from the different food groups.
  5. Be active every day: Regular, moderate physical activity is good for the heart. The Heart Foundation recommends that you include at least 30 minutes or more on most, or all, days of the week.

*Workout World will donate $50 from each purchase of the Avanti 928, Avanti XFit1 or the Precor 933 treadmill in August to the Heart Foundation. $20 from each purchase of the GFIT 100 and GFIT200 treadmill from Workout World in August will be donated to the Heart Foundation.
