Wendy’s Supa Sundaes launches liquorice ice cream
Wendy’s Supa Sundaes Pty Ltd is launching a daring new ice cream flavour following months of extensive product development and testing to perfect the flavour and the colour.
Available in the ice cream franchise stores from Monday, November 30, Wendy’s Liquorice Twist incorporates a twin twist of black and white liquorice flavoured ice cream, swirled with a rich liquorice flavoured ribbonette.
Todd Duthie, General Manager Marketing at the dessert franchise company said “Our customers have been asking for this flavour for some time, so it’s terrific that it’s now available to them. We’re confident Liquorice Twist is going to be very popular, even with those who aren’t necessarily liquorice lovers.”
He went on to explain that getting the flavour right was a key focus of the product and that the ice cream franchise group invested a lot of time and effort into making sure the colour was just right. Developing a dark, thick and glossy liquorice swirl that offered a sleek finishing touch was also just as important.
Todd added “At Wendy’s we’re always looking to provide our franchisees with fresh and exciting flavours to offer their customers so we’re really pleased to be launching a daring flavour such as Liquorice Twist.
“This product has been developed to be of the very high quality our customers have come to love and expect from the Wendy’s brand. It’s also been specifically designed to add a new dimension to our offering, ensuring we continue to attract new customers to our stores.”
To help celebrate the launch of liquorice Twist, the ice cream franchise group is offering customers the chance to win a year’s supply of ice cream as part of the Wendy’s Liquorice Twisted Tongue Challenge.
“Liquorice Twist is a flavour that will do strange things to the colour of your tongue – but that’s all part of its charm and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate it than to have our customers share their ‘twisted tongues’ with us,” Todd said.
He continued to add that to enter the competition, customers need only to buy a scoop of Wendy’s Liquorice Twist, photograph their liquorice twisted tongues once they’ve eaten it and then upload the picture to the Wendy’s website.
The Wendy’s Liquorice Twisted Tongue Challenge closes on December 18 and winners will be drawn December 21.
