The Happiness Institute launches The Happiness Diet online
Professor Timothy Sharp, founder of The Happiness Institute , developed The Happiness Diet, which he claims is a revolutionary method for tackling unhealthy eating habits and weight management that utilises the principles of positive psychology.
The diet was originally created to be delivered as a small group program, and while it is currently only available in Sydney, as more qualified facilitators are recruited over Australia, locations for this format will expand.
The Happiness Institute says that the response it has received from the Australian public to the diet has been huge. One problem though is availability. To overcome this, an online version has been just been launched, which The Happiness Institute is very excited about.
Overcoming issues with food is a problem that affects many people, and the institute wants to ensure that anyone, no matter how isolated, can make use of the material.
The institute claims that the online program will mirror the content of their established face-to-face courses, but additionally allow for flexibility in time and location.
The Happiness Diet has been designed to help participants find motivation and inspiration to achieve their goal, by being guided through goal setting exercises, identifying core strengths and key positive attributes as well as using mindfulness strategies.
The Happiness Institute proposes that with this positive energy, participants can then focus on increasing their efforts to foster healthy and helpful behaviours, build positive relationships, make appropriate dietary changes and develop new approaches to activity.
The online course has been structured such that participants will be sent weekly coaching lessons. After a period of eight weeks they will then receive fortnightly, and then monthly reminder emails, specifically focusing on maintaining their gains and helping them to keep on track even in the face of adversity or inevitable setbacks.
One other notable aspect of the online course is the inclusion of unlimited, online coaching from The Happiness Institute’s team of caring and qualified coaching psychologists. If at any time participants have questions or need help, they will be able to contact The Happiness Diet team via email.
