New SBS documentary House of Food Obsessives to feature The Happiness Institute’s Dr Tim Sharp
Founder of The Happiness Institute , Dr Tim Sharp, will be appearing on Australian TV screens this December in a new two-part SBS documentary titled House of Food Obsessives.
In this unique presentation, Dr Sharp attempts to transform the way a group of food obsessed Australians eat, simply by using the principles of positive psychology and getting them happier.
The documentary follows Dr Sharp applying a positive psychology coaching program designed to help people overcome eating and food related issues. Among other things, this involves teaching a range of positive psychology coaching strategies.
Dr Sharp recalls one of the most memorable strategies he taught was a rebranding exercise where all of the group members were asked to create an ad that sold themselves at their best.
It drew heavily on previous work in the program about identifying strengths as well as allowing each member to use their own, inimitable styles and personalities in order to reflect how they'd like to see themselves and be seen by others.
Dr Sharp’s work with House of Food Obsessives was the starting point for the creation and development of The Happiness Diet.
Effectively, production of the show was the test trial for the program, which The Happiness Institute will be rolling out in 2011 and offering in small group formats as well as online.
Following on from the success of The Happiness Institute’s Facebook page, which has over 2000 fans, a new page has also recently been created to promote The Happiness Diet.
The page allows participants of the TV show, future participants and those contemplating trying out the principles of positive psychology to come together and create a discourse on positivity, diet and body image.
The two-part documentary House of Food Obsessives will air on SBS at 8:30pm December 28th and January 4th.
