Happiness is facing your fears
According to The Happiness Institute , one of the more tangible ways in finding happiness is confronting your anxieties and fears.
If someone is anxious about one particular situation or trigger (whether it be heights, closed spaces or confronting others) they do not always realise how it is impacting their lives.
Anxieties and fears constraints a person’s activities and limits their opportunity for happiness. Their fears hold them back from living the best life they could potentially achieve.
This is why, as the positive psychology franchise explains, overcoming your fears and anxieties are such an important part in creating happiness and fulfilment. In order to help you find more confidence when facing apprehension, The Happiness Institute provide the following tips.
Imagine you have no fear:
- What would your life be like?
- What would do that you’re not doing now?
- What would you say yes to?
- What opportunities would open up to you?
- How much more could you enjoy certain activities?
Now imagine if you were able to confidently do whatever you wanted to do. How would you live your life differently?
As The Happiness Institute explains, the most effective to overcome your anxieties and fears is to confront them. It’s no doubt that this task can be and will be difficult, however there is also no doubting that it probably would not be as hard as you might think.
Confronting your fears and anxieties will provide you with long term benefits that will outweigh the short term distress.
