From automotive to dessert franchises in three easy steps

Sonya Roberts probably wasn’t the kind of person The Cheesecake Shop ’s franchisee recruitment people expected to be interested in starting up one of their dessert franchises when she first made contact 8 years ago.

With a resume that included owning a Shell service station and Bridgestone Tyres franchise, the mother of three still remembers the look on the face of The Cheesecake Shop’s recruitment executive when they sat down for her first meeting.

“I guess he was used to stay at home mums looking for a new direction,” she laughs.

Sonya’s family has been involved in businesses for a long time, and “it’s never bothered us what the business was. We just looked for businesses with a great model.”
