Franchisees, Established and New

by TRIOS WRAPS
Take a look at how an established, and a new, franchisee view their Trios fast food business.

Established Franchisee
Taylor Kaman, Jam Factory, Chapel Street, Melbourne.

Date your franchise opened.
October 2005

Why did you choose this franchise?
Over a period of nine months I did a lot of research on most franchises available. I found that Trios suited me more than most others due to its fresh appeal, its funky product and the fact that it is not just another sandwich bar. It stood out from the competition in more ways than one.

What were your expectations when you first started?
I honestly did not know what to expect. I had done nothing like this before and coming from a totally different background in work I was too nervous to think too far ahead. However in saying that I guess I just wanted to enjoy what I did and expand.

How has the business developed?
Trios Jam factory is continually developing year after year. Compared to two years ago sales are up.

What would you do differently now?
I'm pretty happy with where I've got to and I wouldn't change anything, but I have learned from my mistakes.

What advice would you offer to a new franchisee?
Choose your franchise carefully, make sure you have a personal interest in the kind of product the franchise offers and don't ever give up.

New Franchisee
Vivian Lee, Westfields Southlands

Date your franchise opened.
December 2007

Why did you choose this franchise?
People are more educated on health and nutrition now, and I do believe that Trios has helped people be more aware of what they are putting into their body.

What were your expectations when you first started?
This was a company owned store, so my main goal was to keep the business stable and grow the profits after six months.

How has the business developed?
I've changed the Management team in the store to have young and passionate staff in the frontline. And there's been plenty of training for the team to increase the work efficiency.

What are your latest plans?
I am setting up the new Management system in the store as designed by Trios operation team. Over the next 12 months I want to increase the store's reputation in the centre and neighbourhood, and educate people to eat more heathily.

What advice would you offer to a new franchisee?
Seek out the right people to assist you, develop your business by cross-marketing with local traders, schools and clubs. Make sure your stores have a reputation of having staff with lots of passion and enthusiasm - your staff are the success or failure of any business.
