Stratton Finance hosts motivational fundraising night with Chris Legh

Stratton Finance staff and former world number one triathlete, Chris Legh, are hosting a motivational fundraising night to help raise money for 10 year old Cystic Fibrosis sufferer, Olivia King.

Cystic Fibrosis is a potentially life threatening recessive genetic disease of mucus and sweat glands, which affects the entire body.  In Olivia’s case the disease mostly affects her lungs, making it difficult for her to breathe normally.  Olivia currently has a lung function of 31, which is about 30% of normal function and a lung transport is a very real necessity.

Stratton Finance is raising money to help the King family fund her treatment and hopefully accelerate the process of finding her a lung transplant. The finance franchise is hoping to raise $5,000 for Olivia and her family.

The fundraising event takes place on 7 February, 2012 and will feature Chris Legh as the guest speaker. Legh became world famous in 1997 when he came within millimetres of death less than 100m from the finish line of the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon.

After returning from his near death experience, Legh became the world number one ranked long course triathlete in the 1999/2000 season and has secured over 90 international professional race wins.

“There is something special about seeing the results of our fundraising go directly to Olivia and her family,” said John Grant, Stratton Finance CEO. “It has been great to see all our staff and partners so supportive of Olivia’s cause.”

With Chris Legh’s support, Stratton Finance hopes the contributions of the staff and partners will help raise a significant amount of money to assist Olivia’s treatment and help support her family. For each dollar raised by Stratton staff and partners, Stratton will contribute an equal amount on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

“The target is $5,000 but I am hoping we can do better. With a small amount of support from the whole Stratton family we can make a huge difference to a little girl’s quality of life,” said Grant.
