Get a healthy kick start to the footy season with Spudbar
Baked potato expert Spudbar continues its expansion plans, with the exciting news that two stores will be open this week inside the MCG.
Already a favourite with several AFL players, football fans will now be able to choose a healthy fast food alternative at the MCG when Spudbar opens for business for Round One of the AFL season. Spudbar fast food franchise has transformed the humble spud into a tasty, nutritious and value for money meal. The MCG menu offers more than 15 fresh and tasty hot and cold toppings, and customers can choose from one of the 6 favourites from the menu, or create their own baked spud masterpiece. There is even a Spuddy - a baby spud designed especially for the kids.
“We are so excited to be opening at “the home of sport”, the MCG”, said Kirsten Roberts, Spudbar CEO, “and are looking forward to building a loyal following amongst sports fans looking for great tasting, healthy quick food. We pride ourselves on being one of the few fast food options where you can get your entire recommended daily intake of veggies in one meal”, she said.
Melbourne Cricket Club Executive Manager of Hospitality Rebecca Harvey said, “We are delighted to welcome Spudbar at the MCG. Spudbar is meeting the needs of our patrons who have asked us for healthier alternatives at the ground, and with sites in both the Great Southern Stand and the MCC Members, everyone will be able to try Spudbar’s filling and nutritious meals”.
Spuds are 100% fat free, and Roberts believes that its’ healthy offering will be a real advantage for the MCG, and hopes that the sporting public will too! “With obesity being a significant national health threat, we want to spread the message about all the benefits of spuds, and are offering people not only healthy food choices, but incredibly tasty ones too!” she says.
Spudbar MCG will also be the first of the fast food franchise stores to uncover the fresh new branding, which is being rolled out across Spudbar’s 12 stores in Victoria, Western Australia and New Zealand. The re-brand, developed by the Melbourne based Studio Binocular, includes an updated corporate logo, as well as fresher and brighter menu boards and menu cards, and incorporates more of the bold corporate colours which had previously been used only in the store fit-out.
“It is such an exciting time for us at Spudbar”, said Roberts, “…we are getting great feedback on our new look, and as we move towards launching into the Sydney market we think this new direction will really help us to grow our brand awareness and introduce more new customers to our healthy, great tasting and great value meals”.
