Caroline Springs franchisee Alex Quetglas reveals what attracted him to Sportsco clothing and footwear franchises
Sportsco 's clothing and footwear franchises instantly appealed to Caroline Springs franchisee Alex Quetglas, who was looking for a lucrative business opportunity that embraced his own personal interests.
Researching various franchise opportunities through the Internet and magazines, Alex says he decided on the clothing and footwear franchises because they presented an opportunity in an industry that he is passionate about.
“I wanted to be involved, not just any franchise for the sake of owning a business. I wanted to be part of something established and well respected that I could relate to,” he says.
The close relationship Sportsco has developed with major brands, and a long, successful history in the sporting apparel industry ensured that all the processes and procedures Alex needed to launch into his business were in place and readily accessible as soon as he signed on to the business.
Add to that “great support and advice [and all] the hard work of setting up and opening a business has been done and a lot of the guesswork has been taken out,” Alex says.
There is always someone within the network of Sportsco clothing and footwear franchises to lend a hand when Alex has a question or a problem, he explains.
The support he’s had in making good, informed decisions, backed by great product and industry knowledge has, he says, been one of the keys to the success of his business.
Having previously worked in the automotive industry, the move to Sportsco sport and fitness franchises has been a challenge for Alex, but a rewarding one.
He says that “Sportsco’s help in setting up the store and the product range was vital to be able to hit the ground running. In some respects I thought it would be more difficult, surprisingly I found the customer side of the business easy and rewarding, and I guess the motivation and desire to succeed overcomes the long hours.”
Knowing that he owns his business has ensured motivation is high at the Caroline Springs branch of Sportsco clothing and footwear franchises, with every little success story along the way reinforcing Alex’s drive and motivation to push the Sportsco brand.
“Sportsco has some great marketing strategies in place and a strong focus on promoting the Sportsco brand and image, with a progressive and refreshing attitude towards customer service being a key point of difference,” he comments.
Learning from his own experience, Alex has some advice for others considering joining the national clothing and footwear franchises.
He suggests that new and potential franchises:
- ask lots of questions
- listen and take advice
- understand budgets and spending, and be conservative in expectations
- have a plan, set realistic goals, achieve those and set higher ones; and
- be prepared to work hard and be motivated to succeed.
