Update on 2011 census data from Spectrum Analysis
Business advisors from Spectrum Analysis have received several queries recently with regard to the age of current Census data. The most current Census data currently in use is taken from the 2006 national Census, with the next scheduled for the 9th of August, 2011.
As in the past, due to the massive size of the undertaking, it will take quite some time for the results of the Census to be made available. As such, Spectrum Analysis expect that the raw data will be made available to the company sometime in late 2012.
While information on some characteristics is available from other sources, only a Census can provide information on a standard basis for the country as a whole as well as for small geographic areas and small population groups.
This is especially the case for all of the specific demographic characteristics of the population (such as age, income, and ethnicity). The relative proportionate changes between Censuses of these characteristics is predominantly negligible.
The factor that may experience the greatest change between Censuses is the total population / household numbers in specific high-growth corridors. Spectrum Analysis is in contact with other organisations and advisory services that can 'approximate' population growth for small areas between Census 2006 and the present day and franchise business advisors from Spectrum Analysis can provide this data to clients if required.
