Slique case study: severe etch marks on benchtops
A particular property had a distinctive green marble benchtop that had been hand-picked by the owners. The property had been let, and the tenant's coffee machine had been placed on the bench, but when it was removed huge white blemishes caused by the descaling agent were revealed. Desperate to keep their benchtop, the owners asked 3 different companies if it could be recovered. Only Slique stone care franchise said "yes".
The tenants did not realise that leaving the descaling agent in their coffee machine caused it to drip down onto the surface of the bench, and pool around the machine. In some places it had even dripped down the bullnose edge of the benchtop.
Not only were the large white ring and drip marks visible, they were also be felt – the highly acidic descaling agent had eaten into the surface of the marble and made it rough to the touch.
The owners of the property contacted Slique stone care franchise, who visited the property and confirmed that a Slique Treatment would be able to restore the damage.
Two other professional stone organisations were asked to quote and both told the owners that the damage was impossible to restore, and that they would have to replace their treasured benchtop.
Obviously slightly wary of Slique’s claims that full restoration was possible, the owner called Slique again to confirm. The Branch Manager was so confident that he told the owner “If we don’t fix it, don’t pay us”.
Slique mobile franchise was subsequently contracted to complete the work, and Technicians completed a series of Deep Dirt Extraction and Re-Surfacing treatments, achieving 100% recovery of the benchtop.
