Shingle Inn - Supporting a Winning System
Shingle Inn Director Andrew Bellchambers is confident of the success of the iconic bakery cafés’ franchisees based on their access to the cafe and bakery franchise company’s highly qualified Area Managers.
“Many of the franchise systems operating in the same market have a ratio of field support staff in the vicinity of 15 franchisees to one operational support person,” explains Mr Bellchambers. “Our franchisees will have the advantage of easily accessible support from our two Area Managers who currently oversee operations across our seven stores.”
Mr Bellchambers says that franchisee enquiries to-date have included people who may need to take full advantage of that support as well as others who have previously owned cafés and may only need advice in Shingle Inn-specific operations.
“We’re in the fortunate position of having two experienced Area Managers capable of supporting franchisees in whichever area where training is required. We have an extensive six week induction training program for new franchisees that in the first four weeks reviews operations, ordering, customer service, marketing and bookkeeping both in a ‘live’ and theoretical environment and then subsequently includes two weeks hands-on in-store support for when our franchisees start running their Shingle Inn café,” says Mr Bellchambers. “Following that our Area Managers will regularly visit the store and provide relevant training and assistance according to franchisees’ skills and experience.”
Celebrating 73 years since inception this year, Mr Bellchambers says Shingle Inn coffee franchise is pushing ahead with its expansion plans despite the current economic climate.
“Customers are still treating themselves to their daily coffee and slice of cake or lunch and we’re not expecting that to change in the foreseeable future.”
“Direct, hands-on support from Area Managers together with our iconic brand is expected to be the vital difference in helping franchisees run a successful business regardless of the economic environment,” says Mr Bellchambers.
Shingle Inn is currently looking for franchisees for an existing cafe franchise store at Westfield Garden City as well as for proposed stores at Robina and Mt Ommaney.
