Previously a Pizza Hut manager, Troy decided that as a franchisee he could use the same operating principles he was already using to reward himself with the profits of a very successful business. He spoke to other franchisees, sought independent legal and accounting advice and took up the challenge.
Troy became the first Pizza Hut franchisee in Brisbane and despite his previous experience, he found the first few months challenging. "My wife Christine was very supportive and continues to manage the accounts for the business," said Troy. "It didn’t take us long to settle in and now we have a very good life. I have a strong and dedicated team here at Wynnum and I can choose which days I work and when I start."
Troy has won a string of corporate awards. "The key to my success is that I use the management tools available to me. The user-friendly support networks provided by Pizza Hut make it easy," he said. The Pizza Hut business systems are backed by a dynamic corporate team and an active association of franchisees provides a platform for effective communication and interaction at all levels of the business.
Pizza Hut has over 12,000 restaurants worldwide. There are over 300 restaurants in Australia, where Pizza Hut has been operating for over 30 years, and according to Kurt Whitlow, general manager for operations, this combination of global reach and Australian experience is one of the key advantages available to Pizza Hut franchisees. "Our systems and management tools are world class and well tested," says Kurt.
"They have been extremely successful in providing franchisees such as Troy with the means to excel, but the industry is dynamic and we are constantly working to bring innovation to our menus and to every aspect of our business."
The number of Pizza Hut franchises in Queensland is rapidly increasing but the growth there is just part of the bigger picture of Pizza Hut’s continued expansion across Australia.
