Pacnet Launches New Virtual Private Server Solution for Cloud Computing
Pacnet telecommunications service providers has expanded their growing Cloud Computing solutions with the launch of a new Pacnet Virtual Private Server (VPS), their first Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution.
"As organisations deploy increasingly demanding applications requiring more robust server environments, they are also recognising the high costs and resource requirements associated with building traditional server environments,” says Chris Wilson, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy and Management, Pacnet.
“Pacnet VPS, our new IaaS service which is part of our broader cloud strategy, extends high-end computational, storage and networking assets to customers that require access to scalable, advanced server infrastructure, without the need for huge, upfront capital investment.”
The Pacnet VPS will assist Pacnet’s extensive IP VPN network, as well as deliver high performance virtual servers that function just like a physical server. The Pacnet VPS offers customers the flexibility to choose from four configurations – small, medium, large and extra large – in order to match their computer and storage requirements.
Customers can also choose either Microsoft Windows Server Standard or Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the Operating System for their virtual server.
“Australian businesses have shown that they are at the forefront of cloud computing and we have already seen some of them quickly recognising the value that Pacnet VPS delivers,” says Deborah Homewood, Chief Executive Officer of Pacnet Australia & New Zealand.
“Their adoption of Pacnet VPS goes beyond just looking for cost savings as they realise that the service, along with our network and hosting infrastructure, allows them to minimise downtime, support their business continuity and disaster recovery plans, as well as host new services in a safe and secure environment.”
The Pacnet VPS, available from Pacnet communication franchises, offer optional features of backup services and additional Microsoft Business Application software licences, which may also be included as part of the service package.
