New international gateway in Chennai boosts Pacnet’s capabilities in India
A new Chennai international gateway enables businesses in India to gain unprecedented access to high speed global broadband activity and advanced communication solutions.
Telecommunications service provider, Pacnet has announced the launch of their international gateway in Chennai which provides access to Pacnet’s full suite of high-speed international connectivity solutions to meet India’s growing demand for bandwidth.
“With the government’s aggressive broadband expansion initiatives and continued economic growth across the country, India is strengthening its stake as a strategic business hub for key multinational corporations.
“The launch of Pacnet’s international gateway is part of our plan to build our local presence and support India’s growth through the delivery of enhanced international connectivity and hosting solutions across the country,” said Bill Barney, Chief Executive Officer at Pacnet.
As part of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) proposed National Broadband Plan, they are targeting to increase broadband subscriptions from 11 million in 2010 to 75 million by 2012 and 160 million by 2014.
Enhanced Pacnet infrastructure in India means carriers and businesses will be able to enjoy Pacnet’s full suite of connectivity solutions.
The telecommunications service providers' connectivity solutions include Indefeasible Rights of Use (IRU), International Private Lines (IPL), Ethernet International Private Lines (EIPL), IP Virtual Private Networks (IP VPN), IP Transit and Direct Internet Access (DIA).
The international gateway will also enable businesses to access Pacnet’s comprehensive hosting and managed services offerings.
“In addition to our international gateway, we have also invested in upgrading our domestic points of presence in Bangalore, Mumbai and New Delhi, to deliver our enhanced services across India.
The telecommunications service provider currently has a presence in major cities across India including New Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad.
“Given the bullish demand for bandwidth, we are also looking to further expand our presence into more cities across India,” said Sunanda Das, Managing Director of Pacnet India.
Businesses in India can also gain access to high speed connectivity on a single Pacnet network into Asia and the US, through Pacnet’s enabling of additional capacity between India and Singapore, interconnected to Pacnet’s EAC-C2C subsea cable and Pacnet’s trans-Pacific cable EAC Pacific.
