Pack & Send delivers like nobody else in Australia
According to Franchise Selection Manager, Martin Lo Surdo, Pack & Send ’s delivery service is like no one else in Australia.
The delivery franchise has established itself as the retail shop front of the freight industry, and is able to pack anything and send it anywhere from air freight, roads, sea freight, international and domestic.
Franchise Business AU takes the opportunity to speak with Martin Lu Surdo about Pack & Send’s unique delivery service.
FBAU: What makes Pack & Send’s delivery franchise unique?
Martin: Pack & Send are a network of retail stores, over a hundred stores across Australia. We also have stores in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
We actually have no one in Australia that does what we do. Quite often we’re doing work that other freight companies can’t handle, don’t wish to handle or are outside Australia Post’s criteria of what they send or wish to send.
We have state of the art packaging techniques, as well as equipment, so we can handle things such as an over a million dollar piece of artwork.
FBAU: Can you tell us about your successful franchisees?
Martin: Yes, I can. We got a few of them! It’s a lot to tell about our successful franchisees. One of the things that drives the success of the business is that franchisees that join Pack & Send really subscribe to our ‘no limits’ culture.
Basically when a customer comes to us with an enquiry or with a problem that they haven’t been able to find a solution for, we just say ‘yes we do it’.
Our franchisees are solution-oriented and provides solutions to customers that they can’t or don’t otherwise get with other services. And also in a Pack & Send business, franchisees are always on their toes. They just never know what type of item, what project or where that item would need to be sent. Every day is somewhat different and exciting in a Pack & Send store.
Our business systems are second to none. We very much provide robust business systems for example we have a local area marketing plan that franchisees just follow and successfully and integrate into their local area. So they become the go-to people for sending freight in their local area.
Also with our business, Pack & Send franchisees really integrate themselves in the local community so the satisfaction they get to become that go-to person is really good and very positive for both the franchisee and the area, and the people that enjoy the services. They can’t get those tailored, personalised customer service experience with other freight, mail businesses.
FBAU: With the demand of online delivers, does Pack & Send also expand to helping other industries?
Martin: Recently with the demand of online, we’re really well positioned to ride that wave of growth of online. We’re really bridging the gap between the buyer and seller on online exchanges such as Ebay and that’s been really well received.
The clients from eBay come to use Pack & Send services quite a bit, particularly when they’re handling something that’s second hand, it’s not packaged and it’s quite valuable or awkward to handle so it’s fragile, large, awkward or valuable like an expensive antique or a music instrument.
FBAU: Can you tell us about Pack & Send’s big future plans?
Martin: There will be more Pack & Send delivery franchises in Australia. We’re not in a hurry to grow although we are interested when speaking to the right candidate to grow stores in other locations.
So we see Pack & Send having up to about 200 stores across Australia. There are still quite a lot of areas that aren’t serviced by Pack & Send still, such as around the country, so that’s an exciting opportunity for us but also internationally as well.
We are in a couple of other countries and we will in time, when we find and partner successful international master franchisees, they’ll be then expanding the Pack & Send network in those markets as well.
