Optus and Kids Helpline join forces to make the internet a safer place
Optus is helping kids act sensibly when online using a computer or on their mobile phones. The communications service provider has teamed up with Kids Helpline to implement a campaign to end cyber-bullying and sexting and make the internet a safer place for kids.
The campaign focuses on the personal safety of children and the negative impact that the behaviours of others online may have on young kids.
The communications service provider and Kids Helpline are targeting three main areas including online safety and the vulnerability of young children who are tricked into giving away their private information online.
The campaign also focuses on cyber-bullying, as the ability for children to connect to each other online increases the risk and opportunity for cyber-bullying to occur. The campaign aims to educate parents on how to approach children about the issues of online bullying.
Sexting, the sharing of naked photos online, can have long lasting emotional, professional and legal consequences and is a very serious issue facing young Australians.
Optus and Kids Helpline are also making available a downloadable Teacher Pack that contains advice for teachers on how to deal with the issues raised by the campaign.
For further information on the campaign and Optus’ involvement, please call the communications service provider.
