WA Franchise Inquiry Report
by

It appears unlikely that the WA Inquiry into franchising will recommend changes to the law, or the abolishment of a duplicate State Government regulatory framework. Instead the focus is likely to be on pre-entry education for Deacons partner Stephen Giles, the Franchise Council of Australia provided a compelling argument for the retention of the current exclusively Federal regulatory regime. This submission was supported by a submission from the International Franchise Association noting that State regulation of franchising in the US predominantly pre-date the Federal legislation, and caused unnecessary additional compliance costs.
Mr Bothams is due to report to the WA Small Business Minister in March. 03.03.2008
