Ongoing communication and support for franchisees
by

A franchisor will often provide services such as technical support, marketing and promotional advice, assistance with management and business planning and ongoing help with operational problems. Where limits are to be imposed on such support, this should be clearly specified.
Communication is essential to a successful franchise but, most importantly, it should be two way. The golden rule is that it should be frequent. Discussions should be frank but respectful and occur without fear of retribution. Regular meeting with franchisees, annual conferences, newsletters and a dedicated form of electronic communication between all members of the network are all important methods of communication. As a network grows and the franchisor principals become less accessible to franchisees, effective communication systems become more critical.
